Questions You Need to Ask When Hiring San Diego Movers

August 1, 2017Priority MovingMoving TipsNo Comments

To identify the best San Diego movers, you have two primary options. First, you need to conduct research, which includes checking customer feedback, looking for complaints on the Better Business Bureau website, and asking for recommendations from people who you know and trust. Second, you need to ask a lot of questions. After identifying at least four solid candidates, spend time talking to company representatives so that you can uncover the information required to make your decision.

Following are the six most critical questions that you should ask any San Diego movers of interest:

  1. What is the history of your company? – As a potential customer, you have every right to ask about a company’s history. You should ask what year the company was started, the number of employees, the average number of moves performed, and so on. The more information that you get, the easier it is to make the right decision.
  2. Are the movers at your company employees or seasonal/temporary workers? – Instead of hiring San Diego movers with crews of seasonal or temporary workers, you want to find a company that uses actual employees to handle their moves. Employees are typically professional, dedicated, and better trained.
  3. Will you provide me with an onsite estimate? – If any moving company wants to offer an estimate over the phone or via email, run for your life. Without first seeing the type and volume of your goods, there is no way to provide you with an accurate estimate. The right company will offer to send a representative to your home to conduct a thorough assessment. With that done, you are handed a written estimate on the spot.
  4. What do you include for the price of my move? – As a general rule, moving companies charge for add-on services, which includes providing moving materials, packing and unpacking, moving a second vehicle, and so on. When researching different San Diego movers, the goal is to find a company that offers the most for the money along with competitive rates for add-on services.
  5. Do you have insurance coverage, and if so, what kind? – Any moving company worth hiring will offer both minimum and value replacement coverage. Between the two, value replacement insurance is more expensive. However, if something of yours gets damaged, destroyed, or lost, it is the better option.
  6. Is your company licensed? – Regardless if you plan to move two blocks from your current home, across town, or to a different city, make sure the company that you hire is properly licensed.
