How to Pack Electronics for an Office Move from Your Local San Diego Movers

August 22, 2018Priority MovingMoving TipsNo Comments

When the time comes to move your office, there are certain items that require extra care when packing them. For example, your computers and other electronics equipment, if not packed properly could easily end up arriving at your new office damaged or destroyed. If you have decided not to let your San Diego movers do the packing for you, they have the following suggestions to help ensure everything makes the trip safely.

The Right Boxes

If you still have the original boxes for your equipment, this is the best possible packaging for them. If not, locate or purchase some heavy-duty boxes. If you plan to use old boxes, be sure they are sturdy and free of stains, bits of food, or any liquids. In the end, you should plan to use good, clean, strong boxes, even if you are using the original packing carton.

The Right Packing Materials

Be sure to use plenty of bubble wrap for your electronics as it offers the best possible protection. It is the packing material of choice for most San Diego movers, but you can also use lots of crumpled newspaper or heavy-duty packing paper to fill any voids in the boxes. The idea is to prevent the items from being bounced around during transportation.

The Owner’s Manuals

Check the owner’s manual to see if there are any special packing instructions before you place the items in a box for storage and shipping. If you don’t have the manual, you can always use the internet to find the information you need.

Transportation and Storage Temperatures

Some types of electronics equipment require very specific storage temperatures, including while they are being transported. This information should be in the product manual. If you have equipment with this type of requirement, be sure you talk to your San Diego movers and ensure they can provide you with a climate-controlled vehicle and storage facility.

Color-Coded Boxes

Use color-coding in the form of colored stickers to mark each box indicating which office or desk it belongs to. Doing this as you pack up will make it much easier to put each box in the right office or desk at the other end, speeding up the process of getting your new office up and running.

Hire Professional Packers

If after reading this you find yourself feeling a bit overwhelmed or you have a large office with multiple offices to move, you may want to hire professional San Diego movers to do the work for you.
