Can any items remain in the drawers of my furniture?
The only items that you should leave in your dresser or bureau drawers are clothing and linens. We ask that you remove all fragile, valuable, or heavy items and anything that can move around in transit and pack them in the appropriate boxes.
Can you move house plants?
Yes, in most cases, your plants can be moved by our crew. You just want to make sure that you stop watering them 3 days prior to your moving day, so that they do not drip in the moving van and damage any of your other belongings.
Can you disconnect my appliances and electronics for moving?
Unfortunately our insurance does not allow us to disconnect your appliances or electronics. With any gas or water lines you should consult your local utilities company. This is to insure the safety of everyone participating in your move.
Are the any items that you cannot move?
Yes, hazardous materials, as defined by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation, are not accepted for shipping. These items are combustible liquids, corrosives, explosives, flammables and compressed gases. Such items as charcoal, paints & paint thinners, batteries and rubbing alcohol, just to name a few. Be sure and consult with us if you have a question about any items.
Is it customary to tip the crew?
Tipping is certainly not expected but appreciated. It is per your satisfaction with a job well done when and how much to tip your moving crew. If you are happy with the way your move is handled and choose to show your appreciation to the crew by tipping them, then please feel free to do so.
What can I do to ensure that my belongings end up in the correct room?
Pick a labeling system and use it consistently. You can either color code your belongings based on the rooms at your destination (bedroom red; living room: blue, etc.) or label the boxes with consistent shorthand to denote their location (DR for dining room, MBR for master bedroom, etc.). If possible, boxes should be labeled on 3 sides.
Can the crewmembers arrange the furniture to my liking in my new home?
Absolutely. However, please remember that on local moves you are charged by the hour, so a significant amount of time spent rearranging the furniture will add to the total cost of the move. Having a plan in mind before arriving at your new home can save time and money.
Can Clothes and Other Items Be Left Inside the Furniture During the Move?
We recommend that all clothes and items be removed from inside the furniture. This includes all desks, dressers, armoires, etc. This makes the furniture much lighter and easier to move. It also limits wear and tear to your furniture during the move. Generally, the only items of furniture that can be safely moved with items still in them are small light pieces containing very light belongings inside (sweaters, shirts, blouses, lingerie). Be careful NOT to leave fragile items and anything that might spill or leak.
