Insider Tips for Saving Money When Hiring Commercial Movers

July 7, 2017Priority MovingMoving TipsNo Comments

Although there is a wealth of information about hiring commercial movers, most focus on the same topics. However, insiders provide different tips that will help you save money when moving your business from one location to another.

Self-Packing – While your employees may grumble, doing the majority of packing before the moving crew arrives will cost you significantly less money. Not only does last-minute preparation stretch out the duration of the move, but it also increases the estimated cost. Therefore, start packing in advance, having most items ready to go. In most circumstances, packing takes roughly six weeks, so do what you can ahead of time and then host a packing party for your employees, complete with free pizza and beverages for getting the remaining items ready to go.

Hire the Right Company – While that may seem like a given, you would be surprised at the number of businesses that do not spend adequate time finding qualified movers. Especially when it comes to commercial movers, you want the people dealing with your goods to have years of experience and expertise specific to this kind of move.

Proper Protection – Even if you hire a fantastic company, you need to confirm that they professionally wrap and protect items. For example, the movers should wrap anything delicate in protective plastic and cover furniture with heavy-duty blankets that prevent scratches and other damage. That will prevent you from filing an insurance claim and potentially spending out-of-pocket money to replace certain things.

Moving Schedule – If possible, avoid moving your business during peak times. When interviewing different commercial movers, verify that they can move you on a day when schedules are not overly clogged. Typically, you should never move on the last day of the month. To save even more, try to schedule your move during the off-peak season from late September through April.

IRS Savings – In some instances, there are tax savings. Therefore, be sure that you follow all of the requirements and take advantage of any tax benefits that would reduce the cost of your move.

By hiring the right commercial movers, not only is the entire process streamlined, but you also have confidence that your goods are handled with care while saving money.
