Bathroom Decluttering Tips

April 23, 2015Priority MovingMoving, Organizing Tips

Feel like you can’t find anything in your bathroom? Looks like you need a dose of some Priority Decluttering Tips. By dedicating a mere 15 minutes a day to a room in your house you will save yourself time and energy daily and come moving day.  When you are ready to tackle the bathroom make sure to follow these steps to declutter your way to a more organized bathroom.

What you will Need:

A hamper, an empty bin or basket, a damp cloth, garbage bag/bin, recycling bin, timer and approximately 15-20 minutes depending on how long since it’s been from your last bathroom decluttering.
Steps:

  • Place hamper outside door. Place any dirty clothes, towels, rugs or robes in the hamper
  • Replenish bathroom with fresh towels
  • Place all trash in garbage bag/bin
  • Place all recycling in recycling bin (paper rolls, newspapers, magazines, empty shampoo bottles)
  • Fill your empty bin/basket with any and all items that do not belong in the bathroom. Focus on the counter tops/exterior shelves first and then open the cabinets and do the same. Once bin is filled place outside door.
  • Wipe down all counters, basins, ledges (once cleared) with damp cloth
  • Replenish any items that are depleted (toiletries, toilet paper etc.)
  • Trash/Recycle/Dispose/Donate: all items that are expired, you will never use, you have never used or you don’t need. Tip: If the lids are crunchy with gunk or you can’t find the expiration date because of the dust on the bottle that is sure indication that it needs to go.
  • Put away any appliances, neatly wrap cords to hair dryers, flat irons, chargers etc. and store in designated storage.
  • Take hamper to laundry room, dispose of trash and recycling
  • Take filled bin/basket and return all items that didn’t belong in the bathroom to their rightful places.

There you have it. If you follow these steps you will undoubtedly save yourself time, energy and sanity in your daily life and most importantly when it is time to start organizing for a move.
